All About Modern Stoves
In the (not so distant) past, the only way people could cook food was by placing it over an open fire. As time went on people learned how to use fire to heat flat stones and used those stones as a sort of primitive griddle for their cooking. Eventually the modern wood stove became commonplace. It was so commonly used that some people still use wood burning stoves today, even though stoves that run on electricity and gas are readily available. Some designers have been working with people who are forced to live with small kitchen space to install modern stoves that burn wood instead of other types of fuel.
One of the reasons that wood burning modern stoves are so popular is that, in addition to saving money on electricity and gas, the modern stove that burns wood can also be used to heat a home fairly cheaply if the right plumbing and piping is in place. Wood is relatively easy to find or buy and keeping a home heated throughout the winter using a modern stove that burns wood is a great way to save a family some money.
You might think that the modern style kitchen stove has to look like something out of a sterile catalogue. This is absolutely false! Modern stoves, whether they use wood, electricity, gas or even pellets can be tasteful and beautiful additions to any kitchen—and are a godsend to the person who only has a small kitchen space.
For the most part, a wood burning modern stove is used primarily for heating while stoves and ovens that are powered by gas or electricity (or solar power in some cases) are used for cooking meals. When someone is forced to deal with a small kitchen space, they might try to separate the stove and oven. The combination unit is the most common, but there is no reason that home owners cannot buy a wall mounted oven and a stand alone range. The nice thing about a stand alone range is that it will save space— the underside can be fitted for cabinet space!
When you go out shopping for your modern stoves, remember that modern design eschews any fancy decoration or superfluous elements. Look for modern stoves with straight edges in bold and bright colors. Look for stoves that will blend in to the rest of your small kitchen space (or stand out from it in stark contrast, depending on what type of modern style you are aiming for).
The modern kitchen stoves come in all shapes, sizes, colors and fuel burners. It might seem crazy to you that someone would choose to use a wood burning modern stove for cooking, but more and more, as people try to live a "greener" lifestyle, this method of cooking is coming back in style. The best way to design your small kitchen space is to choose modern stoves and other appliances that are fun for you to look at and easy for you to use! Remember, you will be spending quite a bit of time in your kitchen; you should enjoy the time you spend there!
